Maybe my attemp donīt allow this operation. So i hope someone can explain me how i can create this transition.

Hello TheNewOne,

Thank you for posting. The PSP is looking good.

I was able to successfully join the two surfaces in your example file running Max 2009 64 bit with R530 nPower tools. The steps I took were:

1) Select both of the surfaces.
2) Activate the Pwr_Join tool.
3) Select "Sew Into Solid (Slow)" mode.

Please try these steps and let us know what happens. If the tool is still giving you trouble, post a detailed description of the steps you take and what goes wrong.

Some times I have better luck joining with Do Nothing mode, convert to Pwr_EditNRB and using edge joining or sewing. I do this, because you have better actual control over the tolerances and options applied.

Now that I have looked at the file I see various problems.

1) You are trying to join to objects, where there aren't open edges to sew together.

2) The surfaces on the end you are trying to join don't even sew together properly, again because the edges that need to sew together don't line up.

Attached is version made by extracting the top surfaces from the lip (Using Pwr_EditNRB untrm), creating a linear blend on the bottom, creating planar objects on each side, then I joined them using Pwr_Join, I then scaled it wider than the base since the PSP lip goes from almost edge to edge. From there I made a copy of the base shape and convert to Edit_PwrNRB as the fillet was going a little crazy here. I then lowered the lip into the base and did an Intersection Boolean to get a lip that perfectly matches the base. From there I moved the lip back into place and did a Union Boolean of the 2. The result is a perfect solid with no open edges.

You can get the .7z (open with freeware 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) archive software) archive here: http://www.speedshare.org/download.php?id=112658B411

BTW, could we get the forum uploads and .7z support added?

Hey guys,
first thank for your help.
The function join works without a problem.
The challenge of the task, was to create a soft transition between the planar part and the rounded part of the geometry. I heeded the advise of PiXeL_MoNKeY and it works great!

Now i have an another problem, it`s important to chamfer(Pwr_Fillet01) the outlines, but i get an error. see image:

Yeah there is going to be that problem :/. Due to the surfaces coming to a point there. I will see if I can find some time to figure out how to address that, but this is my busy time at work with very limited free time. So it may be a little while.
