Hello,
when I install Power NURBS 2.0 Demo on max 8 (SP3, 32bit) the installer tells me:
"Feature transfer error: Feature: Power NURBS, Component: License File, File:
C:\Autodesk\3dsMax8\nPowaf23.rra, Error: The parameter is incorrect."
What's wrong ? Can anybody help ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a version that you can try which will probably get around the install problems. The version is for Max 9 32 bit, but I'll make one for Max 8 (and others) if this works.
Unzip the following file into the 3ds Max directory
www.IntegrityWare.com/ccc/R271_install.zip
Unzip the following file into the C:/winnt/system32 or C:/windows/system32 directory
www.IntegrityWare.com/ccc/R271_system.zip
Please give me feedback. Does this work?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are working franticly on trying to solve the .rra install error. It is only occurring on certain systems making it that more difficult to track.
If you find this post and are having the install issue please help us by supplying the following:
Error produced by install:
nPower Software version:
64 or 32 bit hardware
Operating system:
Version of 3ds Max:
If 3ds Max 9 32bit or 64bit:
3ds Max Service Pack:
3ds Max Plug-in config directory path:*
Current: Virus Software
***Example S:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\plugins
Thank you for your help in solving this issue :)

Dave or Gary,
do you have any ideas on this one?

It sounds like the install file is corrupt. I would try downloading and installing it again. If that doesn't work, contact us and we can get you a different installer.

Are you using demo of version 2.40?

npower_Gary
I used the installer named Install_PNSTMax78_R230_Demo.exe
so I think it's version 2.30 (the link from downloading page points on that file)
If i'm right, where can I download 2.40 demo

Can you call Dave on Monday or E-mail him at dgill@npowersoftware.com? Have him give you 2.40, it has
a new license manager.

I would try uninstalling Power NURBS from the add/remove programs dialog. Then verify that all nPower* files are deleted from the 3dsmax root directory. Also, make sure the "nPowerSoftware" folder and its contents are deleted, as well as "BrepObject.dlo" and "BrepObjectBonus1.dlo" files are deleted from the plugins folder. That should remove all the files, and hopefully that will fix the error.

I would also make sure that you don't have virus checking software or firewall software that is blocking the installation.

Has this issue been adressed yet? It seems not, because i get the same error message (component license, parameter not found - i think)when i try to install power nurbs for max 9 32b(230 demo version).
Firewall disabled ofcourse, as with previos powernurbs installations that wasn't the case here.
Please, can we have a working installer?

I am not quite sure what to do. Lots of people have
been using that installer for a quite a while without
issues. It appears to be something on a few systems
that gives a problem. If we send you some installs
next week, can you give them a quick test to see if
the problem still exists. It works fine on our
systems.

Hi Gary!
It's really awkward and I don't know what to say actually. But if I wouldn't
have ruled out all the possibilities of my system (that I could think of) somehow conflicting with the installer I would have postponed, of course, my request here
and investigated the issue in more detail.
And surely, I'd be very glad to have a go at whatever you think would work.
Just let me know if my email is visible to you. :)

Hmm, if its a licence problem, could it be something to do with 'npower_SOFTWARE_licence.ini' or something like that in the root folder of 3DS?
q_vazk
05-27-2007, 03:24 PM
Could be! You can never be sure, although i don't understand what you would suggest us to if that would be the case. :)

Hmm, well to start, is it actually there hahaha? (Im not saying you are ******, just Im not sure if your post implies if it is or isnt there):). Moreover if it is there, is it in the right directory?

Hello David,
Why are you installing the demo version (instead of the customer version)?
Send me an email, and I'll get you the new installer. We'll probably post that one on Tuesday anyway.

I'm having the same problem. During installation, I get a feature transfer error as well, but the problem file is currently npowd15e.rra (the file name seems to change on different installation attempts keeping a npow*.rra format).
I have had this installation problem with both the 2.30 and 2.70 versions for Max 8.
This problem only occurs at work. An installation on my home system went smoothly. My work system is running Windows 2000 while my home system runs Windows XP. Could this be a factor?

I wonder if it is a particular file (or directory) that is locked. Otherwise, why would the install work on so many systems, but not work on a few.
Did you try also with the 2.70 installer? Does that give the same error?

We use a standard Microsoft product (called InstallShield) for our install. We are going to try upgrading to the latest version to see if maybe this is a problem that they have fixed. Otherwise, we'll need to start collecting data from those of you who have this problem (i.e. system configuration). Because it works correctly for 95+% of the customers. I haven't been able to figure out yet why it fails for some people.

nevs26...if you are having issues do as epinkel has requested and post your system info. I installed the 2.71 demo on my work machine last week and I am not having any issues with install or operation.

Here's my specs:
- error: feature transfer error: npowd15e.rra
- version: nPower installer versions both 2.30 and 2.70
- 32 bit hardware
- tried installing on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro service pack 2 systems (in both regular and safe mode)
- tried both 3ds Max 8.0 and service pack 3
- plugin directory path: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3dsmax8\plugins
- Virus Software: McAfee VirusScan Enterprise ver. 8.0.0
Unfortunately, still no luck after a reformat and fresh install of Windows XP Pro. Installations were tried in both Windows normal and safe modes, and with no firewall. I hope this information helps.

What about disabling the Virus Scan software?

The anti-virus was disabled during safe mode with the same results. Just in case, I tried disabling it in normal mode as well. Still no luck.
Also, the installation has failed on several different systems at work, in both normal and safe modes. I would think that some network settings may be causing the problem (especially since it worked fine on my home system), but wouldn't installing in safe mode (with no network support) rule that out?

Hey everyone,
We have a version that we think might work. For those of you on Max 9 32 Bit, can you try out the following version and tell us if it fixes the problem?
www.integrityware.com/ccc/Install_PNSTMax9_32Bit_R275_Demo.exe
Other versions are on the way, but we want to get some feedback on whether the problem still exists.

Could you all try out the following 2 versions and tell us if either or both of them fix the problem? Eric, could you also post the links on the CGArena site?

Hello, Dave,
I had a successful install ! )
I just copied nPower_SOFTWARE_License20.ini from the R271_install.zip to max root dir
and then ran the standard (exe) install. The installation went smoothly.
Thanx for solving the problem !

It sounds like you probably installed the wrong version. Which version of 3ds Max do you have, and which version of our installer (what's the installer name) did you use?
I also sent you an email. Did you receive it?

What happens when you install the R290 version into the root 3ds Max directory?
Do you have a valid 3ds Max license?
aminmohammad
12-07-2007, 10:37 PM
my max is registered and the license for max is valid
im sure about that
but as i said in all cases, when i run all installers (also r290),the nurbs installs completely, but when i run max and want to use this pro in max(9 32 bit),the same error, as i said in the previous text, accures.
also as i said i installed all npros in the max root directory
thanks and need quick help

Maybe you have an old version of the UI files. Try deleting all of the nPower related files in the UI directory before installing.

I wasn't referring to the installer necessarily being old. What I wondered is if your UI files are old. Are you getting those script type errors when you click on our icons? Or do you also get those when you click on the command buttons with just the name of the command? For example, what happens when you click on the command button with the "Pwr_NURBS" text? Does it give an error? If that works, but it fails when you use the icon then the UI files are out of date. So I'm suggesting that you remove all of the nPower related UI files out of the UI directory.
