works but kills all history then !

And by the way detaching faces this way is very very unstable !

Yes, you have to use the Pwr_EditNrb command to remove faces. And yes, you lose the history. There are some pretty powerful functions in the EditNrb command, but we should eventually pull those out and allow them from any object.
