first of all, great plugin, works great.

as I understand it when imported the objects appear polygon-ish but is actually NURBs surfaces.
It's not possible, as far as I can see, to convert the objects to polygons for further editing, how would I archive this or could you build it in somehow ?

I tried converting and duplicating with any results.

This is interesting. Were you able to watch the Maya basic translator movie? We show the process of converting to mesh but we will not be supporting convert to quad polys. If this does not address your problem then please let me know and thank you for your input.

Hi Daniel,

Yes, they are displayed as polygons, but it actually imports as NURBS objects. We tessellate the NURBS objects into polygons for display (or if you want to convert to mesh). That way you can adjust the resolution of the mesh. Nice huh?

oh, I haven't been able to watch the movie because of a firewall problem, I try to do that when I'm at home. thanks for pointing it out.

Would it be possible to create a tool to convert the nPower objects to polygons or NURBS, sometimes we want to re-model things outside Maya after import.

Hi Daniel,

I don't know Maya that well, but I believe that there is already a tool that will convert our objects to polygons (because we already create mesh objects for them).

Hi,

As dave mentioned, Maya already have polygon node.
Just delete nPowerShape node.

To do this,
Right click and select "Show Shapes" In the Outliner, you will see the nPowerShape node and polySurfaceShape node in parallel under the transform node.
