The viewer doesn't always need to get updated (because it doesn't have all of the functionality). So the viewer version doesn't have to match the customer version.
But there is a new version of both the viewer and the customer version. Send me your email address, and I'll send you the updated version.

Is there a way to be automaticaly informed of new version ?

Hi Ben,
Updates are posted on the secure customer web site (it's in your email that I'm sending you). Significant updates are emailed out to customers (as long as we have your email address correct).

Dave,
I understand that the customer install and the viewer install do not need to be the same version. However, I’ve discovered a compatibility problem between specific versions of customer and viewer installs.
I have these files installed on my workstation:
NPowerMax92008_32Bit_R530.exe
NPowerMax2009_32Bit_R530.exe
These are installed on our render nodes, and on other workstations that do not need editing capability:
NPowerMax92008_32Bit_R510_Viewer.exe
NPowerMax2009_32Bit_R510_Viewer.exe
The attached max file (file upload failed so I will send separately, file Boeing-brep.max), typical of many of mine, will render locally with the R530.exe, but will not render on any machine that has the R510.exe viewer. What happens is that max crashes, by disappearing. On a render node through backburner, the message is “there was an unexpected exception...”
This file has 3 brep objects in it. One of the objects (777 stab vert) will render but the other 2 will not.
One more thing, I experience the same error with both max 2008 and 2009.
One last thing, possibly even stranger. On a machine that has the previous version of the viewer (R282 I think), I do not experience this problem. In the short term I can probably fix this by installing R282 viewer again, but I no longer have the install file. As soon as possible I think the viewer needs to be updated.
Help will be appreciated.

With the 6.0 Release coming soon with Max 2010 support, I am guessing we will see an updated Viewer as well. I think the bug you (and I have run into also) is a fix/changes to the mesh generation/tessellation code. Another option is to extract the Mesh and send the Mesh to the farm instead of the Breps. Not exactly pretty, but it is guaranteed to render.

Hi Mark and Eric,
We'll take a look at the problem and make sure that it is fixed (at least in the r6.0 build. There will be a new viewer for that r6.0 version.

Dave,
Is the version of the viewer just prior to R510 still available? I think it was R282. If so, can you send me a link to it?

Hi Mark,
Here's a link to that version:
www.IntegrityWare.com/ccc/Install_PNSTMax9_64Bit_R282_Viewer.exe
for 32 bit, change the 64 to 32.

Dave, all,
I just installed the latest viewer (R603) in both max 2008 and 2009. It solves 2 of the problems I was having. It is not possible to install in more than 1 version of max, without trouble. And it fixes the rendering error with the prior version of the viewer.
But I am now seeing a new problem. The workaround for it is very simple but it should still be addressed:
When NPowerMax2009_32Bit_R603_Viewer.exe is installed, max 2009 will not start. The backburner message says that the DLL BrepObjectBonus1.dlo is not valid for this version of max (or very similar).
If you simply delete this file, it fixes the problem. It seems that the file is not require for network rendering.

In my post of 6-18, I meant to say "It is now possible to install in more than 1 version of max, without trouble."
