Hi Daniel,
Yes, you will need an update for 3ds Max 2008.

Hello, is there a date for the update? 3ds max 2008 won't be of any use to me until powernurbs is out. Don't know how i ever managed without it!

We can probably build it and have it ready next week.

David,
Were there changes between 3ds Max 2008 and 3ds Max 9 that require a new version? Since there was no SDK Break between 3ds Max 9 and 2008 there would only need to be a recompile for specific plugin issues.

Hi Eric (and others),
There were some minor API changes for Max 2008, but they shouldn't affect our plug-in. It should work if we just recompile it and build the 2008 version.
We were going to do that this week, but we had our office and homes evacuated from the San Diego fires. Things are settling down a little now, so we'll probably have that installer built next week. We're still officially in the mandatory evacuation zone, but I am here at work, and it seems safe. But it's strange because most of the building is empty and there aren't very many cars on the road.

If the API changes don't effect the plugin, then shouldn't the 3ds Max 9 plugin work in 3ds Max 2008? As far as I know if you don't have to fix anything, then the 3ds Max 9 plugin should work just fine. Though if anyone does have issues I would report it ASAP.

Hi Eric,
Yes, it is possible that it will work without any recompile. However, we should make sure of that. If anyone has tried the current version with Max 2008, please let us know.

Have just installed powernurbs pro build 2.82 into max 2008 and everything works fine. The first nurbs object was a little slow to appear but i think there could have been a delay whilst the software accessed the licence file. Initially i just installed powernurbs and it looked ok but on first attempt to draw an object it failed as it couldn't access the licence manager. so i went back to the install setup and ran the licence manager to install in the max 2008 directory. I'm sure this was probably obvious but it's the sort of thing i only do once a year!

Interesting. Well, we just built a version for 2008 anyway. So either way, there should be a good solution for all 2008 users.

Does anyone else have powernurbs working in max 2008? I'm getting a few more crashes than with max 9 but i'm not sure if it's max2008 that is unstable or the fact i have powernurbs for max 9 installed in to it. Any news on the date for the official build for 2008?

Hi Maldon,
We have a 2008 build now (we'll post it on Monday or Tuesday of next week). But I can get you a link if you send me an email.

The 64 bit 2008 version has been updated. You can get that latest version from the customer secure download link.
Hi Dave,
I have been reading your posts from June'07 concerning this installation problem:
ethereal99903-10-2007, 08:08 AM
when I install Power NURBS 2.0 Demo on max 8 (SP3, 32bit) the installer tells me:
"Feature transfer error: Feature: Power NURBS, Component: License File, File:
C:\Autodesk\3dsMax8\nPowaf23.rra, Error: The parameter is incorrect."
I have the same problem trying to install Nodtronics Revival Education software on one of the girls' Acer Travelmate Notebooks. I have installed the same programs, with no problems, on two other Travelmate Notebooks, all using MS XP home SP2.
??
Something wrong in the operating system?
Hope this helps.
Tim.

Hello Dave,
I have updated with the new version for max 2008 64 bit but i'm still getting the font problem - all the text is showing as "???? ??? ?????" Is this just a problem with a missing font on my pc or something in the software update?
Cheers
Andrew

same here, ok, it is not only the font, the importer just does not work and i cannot authorize, after every start of max 2008 64bit and trying to import something (brep) i get the auth window...

Looks like we need to build an updated 64 bit version for 2008. It appears to use the wrong UI.

O.k. There is an updated version for Max 2008 64 bit. It should work fine now.

I tried to download PowerNurbs Bundle for Max2008 64bit, but it is allways the Max9-64 version.
So I installed it.
Wrong link?
And I have also the problem importing objects,
the importer doesn't fine the licence! And authorisation doesn't work!
Still the same problem as triztan!

The name may say Max 9, but it is actually also for Max 2008. I'm pretty sure it is the correct link.
If Power Translators doesn't show up in the UI, make sure that your configuration file (nPower_Config30.ini) has Power Translators Basic set = 1.

Still doesn't work, with my Max 2008 64.
Un able to tind license for this tool
Nurbs Pro works fine!
Inport just works fine with Max9 64.

Dietmar,
You may have an incorrect license number for Power Translators. Send me an email with your serial number.

dietmar,
has your problem been resolved?
i am very desperate here because it works only for max 9 342bit and 64bit but the 2008 versions do not work at all because the license server cannot be found according the authorisation box. there is a license server for sure because max 9 is working but i do not know why max 2008 versions do not find it.
i may end cracking my paid software because i already spent hours testing and trying and all this without payment.... i had a huge project that i wanted to produce in 3ds max 2008, but since the installation of powernurbs/translatos/solids do not work correctly i had to do all the work in 3ds max 9.
i hope this issue will be solved professionally soon. i am not a betatester anymore and had paid a lot of money to have this software working...

Had the same problems with the latest version. Installed the previous and all went well. Max9 32bit btw, dunno with max2008... I'd just try an older version.

yeah, with max 9 64bit and 32bit i do not have any problems. it happens only on max 2008 32bit and 64bit on the same machine where max 9 32/64 is properly working that the licenses can not be found.

triztan, did you install into the 3ds max 2008 directory or just copy the files from the 3ds max 9 directory? If you just copied the files, did you make sure to also copy the TSRegisterNow.dll from the 3ds max root directory?

I have installed in 2008 64bit directory, tested it, then installed in the 2008 32bit directory and tested again.
I also downloaded the files for the bundle and copied them into the 2008 32bit and 64bit root directories.
it seems to me, that because of xp64, the authorization tries to find the license server software and license in the 'program files' directory and not in the 'program files x64' directory where it actually is installed.
my license manager shows properly my bundled software licenses, but 2008 claims not to find any licenses.
since i do not know how the licensing system works behind the scenes i cannot figure out how to solve it.

Guys,
A couple of notes for you. There are several files in addition to the TSRegisterNow.dll you need in order to manually copy files from Max 9 to Max 2008 and have your nPower plug-ins run.
In addition to the TSRegisterNow.dll (which should reside in the \Autodesk\3ds Max 2008 root folder), you need to add the following file:
\plugins\Afterworks\Common\DCPFLICS.DLU
Be aware that this file needs to be reflected within your PLUGIN.INI file for Max 2008 so that it loads first, otherwise, you'll get plug-in errors upon launch.
Also, so you know, the DCPFLICS protection IS a 32-bit Windows Service, and will be loaded into the \Program Files (x86)\DCPFLICS folder on a 64-bit OS. If it is placed anywhere else, it won't function as expected.
Please let us know if you continue to struggle.

Thanks Beau,
I would also suggest that you use the installer to get the correct files, as copying files manually is prone to error.

hi,
are there any news or is there a new installer that fixes the problem, that the license for the translators can not be found when running max 2008 32bit and 64bit on xp 64bit sp2?
beau, i did not have moved or copied any files, i used the standard installer, the license window even shows beaus home computer as license server.
it could also be that i have this setup because i was one of the first users of npower bundle in max, i do not know....
or, could you give me instructions on how to get rid of npower files and all dll's, registred entries and so on, on my machine?
the uninstallation process is awfull, the software manager shows:
Install_PNSTMax9_32Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax9_32Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax9_64Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax9_64Bit_R290
.
.
.
I mean, how can i know here what I am uninstalling without uninstalling an install of 3dsmax 8 or 3dsmax 9 on the same machine???
************************************
this week i have some spare time to find out what is going on. As far as what i have tested, you can see everything in my posts and I also have exchanged numerous mails to dave. I want to move on now for my next project to be working in 3ds max 2008. I need your help to find out what is happening.
again, here is my setup, so that you know what my system looks like and what versions of max i want to use at the on the same single one machine alongside with powernurbs AND powersolids AND powertranslators:
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 64bit
3DS Max Versions 32bit: Max 8, Max 9, Max 2008
3DS Max Versions 64bit: Max 9 64bit, Max 2008 64bit
Plugins to Install on all Max Versions mentioned above: powernurbs, powersolids, powertranslators
----------------------------------
1. The first thing that interests me is if you already have tested yourself if it is possible to have a setup like I have (xp64 with all 3dsmax variants installed).
2. The second helping thing if we want to work together this week to solve some issues could be to make multiple installers and not one single one. for example:
Install_PNSTMax2008_32Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax2008_64Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax9_32Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax9_64Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax8_32Bit_R290
Install_PNSTMax8_64Bit_R290
I know this will cause multiple compilations of the source, but it will also help to keep the house clean and makes it easy to see what happens.
3. Next thing is the license server, must it be like that beau's home computer shows up in the license server list? not really i think :) I want to have a way to uninstall the license server and start from scratch with a new license server. the one on my machine works fine for max 8 and 9, but the 64 bit versions do search in the wrong directory for the server, so it can not find the server nor a installed license.
I hope we can make this product installation process a bit cleaner. are you also interested?

sad that there is not much interest on solving problems. i hope this will improve in future because the product is good but it lacks on the finish like the installers. i have faith those issues will be solved someday, so that i finally can work with your product as i expect.
