What is the procedure for creating threads on an object such as a screw or in my present case, such as in this photo?
Thanks,
Don

Hi Don,
For a screw shape, you want to use the helix tool to create that shape because the radius it isn't a circular revolution (it spirals upward).

Ok, guess I have the idea, you create a circle to define the outer edge of the spiral and a line to define the height?
And you have to have one of the shapes selected before the helix object is available, right?
Then, how do I make the threads, the shape doesn't render?

The thread (you only need to define one unless you want the cross-section to change) is defined as a sketch curve (in whatever shape you want). That's the profile curve the you will select to be swept.
Actually, there is a pretty good video tutorial on creating helical sweeps. Here's the link: http://www.integrityware.com/tutorials/Max/Quickstart/QHHelixSweep.wmv

Ok, watched the movie, I will have to try it.
Thanks,
