Hello guys,
The architectural workflow is as following when dealing with sketching/3d :
Architect sketches, that be in skethup or on paper or acad, then build the model in revit.
The Shader / 3d artist needs to have a dynamic link to the filee comming from revit, and for that matter any modeling app.
Reason?
Architects are by nature never finished with a project untill 5min before deadline, the shader guy needs the possibility to update the file in max seamlessly on the fly, else everything will fail.
Basicly means everything needs to be retextured, and that aint optimal by a long shot.
Sumup : import is a no go for architectual visualisations and has been since it started with computer visualisations.
There is no point in modeling in revit then add the changes both in revit and max because you cant update an existing project/scene. needs to be replaced.
This works fine with exporting dxf/dwf from revit, however, the revit families needs Mat ID's on the custom families, the texture update in max will break if you model and export from revit directly.
-----
Will this be something you will look into, its the most weak point of revit / max workflow as of today.
cheers from mads
