During startup of max the following messages appears:

DLL <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2008\plugins\BrepObject.dlo> failed to initialize.
Error Code: 14001 - Application failed to start because side-by-side configuration is incorrect.

Max-Version: 2008
OS: Vista 64 SP1
Powernurbs-Version: 5.1

It doesn't seem to affect PowerNurbs, though, everything works fine for now.

I had a similar issue with VRay where the solution was as simple as deleting the file causing the error. It wasn't needed for the 64bit version.

Any ideas or deeper insights into this would be appreciated.

Greetings,

Stephon

Hello Stephon,

I don't understand how it could be "working fine" without loading the BrepObject.dlo. That has to load correctly in order to run any of our commands. I wonder if maybe you have 2 versions of the BrepObject.dlo (in different directories). Usually this type of error message is caused by a bad installation (wrong directory, wrong version, etc.).

hy Dave

with working fine i mean that i can use all the powernurbs tools, sketch, boolean railsweepin etc.

how can i check if the installation went wrong ? i had a demo version installed by mistake before, but first deinstalled it & then went for the original....

thanks again....

It seems the installer put the BrepObject.dlo directly in the /plugins folder as well as in the /plugins/PowerSolids folder.

I just deleted the files in the /plugins folder and now everything works and the message has disappeared.

You can tell if it is installed correctly if the BrepObject.dlo loads upon start up. Also, check the creation tab; you should see nPower Tools 1 and nPower Tools 2 in that list.
