View Full Version : How to create a new Beziercurve to a finished Beziercurve & PowerSketch Bugs

Hi,

Now I do have the following Problem:

I ve created a Beziercurve with 4 Bezierpoints. Then I would like to start another Bezier Curve with the "Add Curve" Function. The connection point of those two curves do not behave like a bezier then, instead itīs a sharp point with two(?) bezier handles. Its a kind of a bezier corner then. The option "start bezier smooth" do not work, too. If I switch to "smooth" or something else, those Point simply ignores that! He looks diffrent from the other too!

Hereīs what i got after starting a new Beziercurve with the endpoint of another finished beziercurve:

How could i attach another bezier to a bezier Curve where the connectionpoint behaves like a normal bezierpoint?

Another question is: Since some versions of the PowerNURBS, the Bezier Mode of the Power Sketch is buggy. If you start creating a Bezier it sometimes makes irrational unnessessary points around the last rigthclick. Also: If you do have a Beziercurve, if you choose a segment in curve mode, and if you use the "copy" or "extract" function, the copied curve doeīs have a lot of "star" shaped point in it! Those stars are selectable via the curvemode. But you canīt work with those jaggy cuves then!

Iīm using the 64bit Version of the latest PowerNurbs Pro 5.31 Version on 3dsmax 2009 Normal 64bit under Vista64bit.

Make sure Inference has a value this will snap the handles together. Now snap the handles together and select the overlapping end handle verts (green box). From Edit Vertices rollout choose Merge Verts. Repeat for both ends of the handle. You now have matching handles that are linked together.

To make them match on creation just click and drag the new handle end over the existing, this should use inferencing to snap to the exist handle. Then it is just a matter of merging the handle verts.

Hope that helps as a workaround,
-Eric

The orphaned points is an old bug (Nov. 2006) I reported here (http://www.npowersoftware.com/forums/showthread.php?t=587).

The copy/extract doesn't create an extact copy, it creates a curve with a smooth based bezier points. The stars can be edited and deleted in edge mode.

Hi Eric,

thanks again for that workaround! But theres a strange behavior after i followed your hint. It work as long as you donīt move the vertice. If I move the Basevertice, the handles arnīt parrallel anymore. Just after draging one of them, they jump to parallel mode again. Very strange. The Point is blue and not a green cross.

Also itīs not possible after this process to convert this point to smooth or other point types.

Do I really have to know the exact number of bezierpoints, that i will need, before i create any curve? Because itīs never again possible to get a true "addition" to my first Beziercurve? That would be extremly unflexible!

I have never seen such a good C2 Bezier Tool like the PowerSketch! You could create really complex Bezierspline Cages with that usefull tool. But why are there so many unnecessary compromises to make and why are there known bugs since three years still in the latest versions? PowerNurbs are really expensive.

If I create curve, of course I like to have the flexibility of adding parts to it that behaves like the other part. If I build up a complex Beziercurve, and then like to convert it to a smooth curve (what the ui tells me) than that should work.

So how get I the blue point to a green cross like the others?

Hard to say without seeing the file you are having problems with and the exact steps you are trying to do. Remember posting a simple file is much easier to diagnose from than an image and description.
