street buggy
I'm modeling a street buggy, but I can't figur out how to make the edges on the carhood. the overall shape of the hood is easy, but when it comes to making the defining lines/edges i'm lost
Please help me, ern ![]() |

Can you show a picture of the viewport (in smooth with wireframe) that you currently have? It would be easier to suggest what to do if people can see what you have.
And by 'hood' you mean the car bonnet/engine lid? (English speaker, fails to understand most slang terms) |

Yes it's the car bonnet.
I have made the overall shape with railsweeps, and it's the "hard" edges around the logo/text, that I can't figure out. I have been tracing a model using aprox curve, and the result is a smooth object, how do I get, the edges in there. regards ern |

First for complex shapes like that I would get the general shape done with straight edge rail sweeps. Then I would trim to remove any complex curvature needed from the edges.
The other thing to question is are those actually hard edges or just reflections from environment. The only hard edge I see is between the "Streetmachine" name and the logo under it. -Eric |

I think they are hard edges becuase you can see the corresponding one on the other side along the lines that ''follow'' the bonnet.
Is it possible to add two NURBS lines and create the ''edge'' between them by tightening them together? This result however in having to edit the vertices of the model, I cant quite remember how to do that... |

Ern,
hey nice looking machine. There are lots of ways to build this hood. There really is no easy way to insert an edge or edge loop in the current version of Power NURBS. However, I think an easy way to build this would be by using a power plane with Bezier handles. The Bezier handles will allow you to adjust the tangency strength where you need it. I have included an image and a Max file for you to look at. ![]()

Or you could even try Erics much more simple solution :P
