Extrude Yes, PBlend No
I'm trying to create the wings of a wing nut and the shape will work on extrude (but then I can't move the top edges in to narrow the top of the object) but not as a PBlend, why?

Hmm, it appears that your shape has a lot of errors on it (the red squares along the segments). Not sure how to get rid of them (Does EDIT_NURB clean edges work?). Perhaps you could also try blending them in a double sided blend mode?
I also don't understand what you mean in a way because you are getting the same shape result if you blend it rather than extrude it? (According to the video) |

What I wanted to do was to turn the tops of the two shapes inward a bit after blending them, but never got it to work.
