Trimming Examples

The "Trim Filling Parameters" apply when you perform a trimming option and apply either an offset or step back value.  In either of these cases, the trim filling parameters apply to the blend that will be created between the original trimmed surface, and the offset surface resulting from the trimming operation.

  Rail Options  

Use Given Rails: Uses the rails for constructing the blend between the trimmed surface and the offset surface.  Using the rails will use the knots from the rails. 
Don't Use Rails: Ignore the rails when constructing the blend between the trimmed surface and the offset surface
Reapproximate Rails: The knots for the new blend will be recalculated (without using the existing rails).

  Filling Options  

Linear Fill: Creates a flat (linear) surface between the two surfaces (similar to a chamfer). 
No Filling:  Choosing this option will leave a gap between the two surfaces 
G1 Blend Fill: Create a G1 blend between the two surfaces. Note that when you use a G1, G2, or G3 blend, you will probably want to use some step back value.
G2 Blend Fill: Create a G2 blend between the two surfaces.  Note that when you use a G1, G2, or G3 blend, you will probably want to use some step back value.
G3 Blend Fill: Create a G3 blend between the two surfaces.  Note that when you use a G1, G2, or G3 blend, you will probably want to use some step back value.

  Tangent Rotation Angle  

Left Angle: Sets the angle of rotation for the tangency (on the left side) 
Right Angle:  Sets the angle of rotation for the tangency (on the left side)
 

  Tangent Strength  

Left Side: the amount of influence that the tangency from the surface to the left will have on the resulting trimmed surface.  The larger this value, the greater the influence.  
Right Side:  the amount of influence that the tangency from the surface to the right will have on the resulting trimmed surface.  The larger this value, the greater the influence. 

  Remove After Fill  

Remove Left Side: Removes the left side surface after the result of the trimming operation 
Remove Right Side:  Removes the right side surface after the result of the trimming operation

  

  Double-Sided Blend Control Options  

Use Two-Sided Blend: Produce a blend with independent blending control on each side (each curve).  It essentially creates 2 blends (one on each side), with a surface in between.  
Middle Bulge: This parameter determines how much the surface (between the 2 blends) will bulge up in the middle.   
Start Blend Size: This parameter tells it how much of a blend to create on the starting side of the double-sided blend. 
End Blend Size: This parameter tells it how much of a blend to create on the ending side of the double-sided blend.
