San Diego, March 15, 2021 - nPower Software / IntegrityWare, Inc announces the release of version 6 of its award winning products - Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE for SOLIDWORKS®. Version 6 is a major upgrade, with patent pending new features (like Power Shell & Power Thicken) and improvements to greatly improve productivity and usability.
Power Surfacing is the premier industrial design solution for SOLIDWORKS®. With new patent pending technology, version 6 makes Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE a powerful, unmatched tool for industrial design and reverse engineering scanned meshes, sculpted meshes (like ZBrush), and SOLIDWORKS® geometry. Improvements in Mirroring, measure / dimension, graphics (Phong shading / HDR lighting), etc. make Power Surfacing 6.0 easier to use in creating and modifying complex / beautiful surface geometry. Improvements to conversion (faster, lighter weight, more accurate) greatly improve efficiency. Version 6 also addresses some of the most difficult CAD operations like shelling, thickening and dimensioning of organic shapes. Adding advanced display options makes it easier to see the visual effects of high quality surface definition. Reverse engineering takes some huge steps forward with enhanced automation of the process.
Here are some of the major new features that will greatly improve productivity. (See a video overview of the new Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE features.)
- Power Shell / Power Thicken (see video)
- Measurement & accurate dimensioning
- Multi-directional mirroring
- Precise conversion
- Faster, lighter weight, more accurate conversions
- Phong shading
- HDR based lighting
- New Quad Wrap (automatically fills most holes)
- Updated Shrink Wrap (checks for self-intersections)
- New Mesh Smooth command (apply to whole model)
- Offset Mesh
- Enhanced Quad Fill
- Point cloud import (OBJ files)
- New Spin Quad command
- Menu / UI reset tool
Power Surfacing / Power Surfacing RE are tightly integrated within SOLIDWORKS®, and the objects they create live within the SOLIDWORKS® feature tree just like typical SOLIDWORKS® features. Many other additional features (and videos) can be found on the Power Surfacing and Power Surfacing RE web pages.
Power Surfacing RE is a reverse engineering (RE) add-in product for SOLIDWORKS® 3D design software that significantly improves the process for reverse engineering scanned meshes, other mesh data, and SOLIDWORKS® geometry within SOLIDWORKS®. Power Surfacing RE is the industry leading solution for reverse engineering organic meshes. It provides extremely accurate conversion of even the largest of scanned meshes; it is fast and efficient, creating light weight models out of extremely complex scans. If you need to convert complex, difficult scanned data into SOLIDWORKS® geometry, Power Surfacing RE is the ideal solution.
Power Surfacing RE is built on top of the award winning Power Surfacing product (and contains all of the Power Surfacing functionality). Power Surfacing is a subdivision surface (SubD) based organic modeling tool for SOLIDWORKS®. Power Surfacing creates fully compatible SOLIDWORKS® surfaces and solids that support all of the powerful SOLIDWORKS® commands that you use on native SOLIDWORKS® geometry. With its tight integration inside of SOLIDWORKS®, and its rich and powerful feature set, Power Surfacing has become the tool of choice for industrial designers who want to quickly generate beautiful designs that can easily be turned into manufactured solutions.
nPower Software is a certified SOLIDWORKS® Gold Partner.

Power Surfacing currently sells for $1,995. Power Surfacing RE sells for $2995. nPower products can be purchased from the nPower web store (www.nPowerSoftware.com/store.htm), or through certified nPower Software resellers throughout the world. Customers can purchase maintenance subscriptions for $395 (Power Surfacing) / $595 (Power Surfacing RE) per year in order to receive ongoing product support, free patch releases, and upgrades to major version releases.
Power Surfacing and Power Surfacing RE are based on IntegrityWare’s SOLIDS++ geometric modeling Kernel, a unique and powerful hybrid modeling system that supports Solids, Surface and Polygonal modeling. nPower modeling tools provide the highest order of surfacing, solids modeling, analysis, and tessellation technologies (which is also available in C#). In addition, Power Surfacing and Power Surfacing RE utilize the SubD-NURBS library product, which provides accurate conversion between SubD geometry and NURBS geometry. |
