Trim Filling Parameters

  Overview

Power Trim allows you trim surfaces and curves.

Here is how to use Power Trim :
1) Select a base object before starting the tool.  This selected base object will be the object that
gets trimmed.
2) Pick one or more trim curves or surfaces to trim your base object.  If you choose "Surface
Normal Projection", the trim objects should be close to the base object..
3) Choose trimming options and view the result.

  Trim Selection

Pick Trim Curves:  Click on this button and then select the curves that you wish to trim.
Pick Trim Surfaces:  Click on this button and then select the surfaces that you wish to trim to.
Instance Trim Objects:  This option (if selected) allows you to trim both the base object and the
selected trimming object because it will retain the trimming object after the trim is complete.  You
can then trim the trimming object using the base object to trim.  For example, you could use this
option to trim a surface and then cap it using the trimming object if you first trim to the selected
surface, and then trim that surface to the base object to complete the capping operation.

  Trim Options

Split Faces:  Don't trim just split the face(s).
Remove Left of Curve:  Trimming will remove the curve or surface to the left of the selected
curve.  If the trimming curve is closed, it will remove the face inside of the curve loop.
Remove Right of Curve:  Trimming will remove the curve or surface to the right of the selected
curve.  If the trimming curve is closed, it will remove the face outside of the curve loop.

  Projection Options

One Sided Projection:  Project the trimming curve only in one direction (the default is to project in
both directions
Flip Projection Direction:  If your trim project doesn't go in the direction that you desire, choose
this option to change the projection direction.
Surface Normal Projection:  Trimming will remove the curve or surface to the right of the selected
curve.  If the trimming curve is closed, it will remove the face outside of the curve loop.

  Surface Offsets

The Surface Offset values will offset the surfaces from the resulting trimming option.

Left Offset:
Offsets the trimmed surface in the left direction
Right Offset:  Offsets the trimmed surface to the right.

  Trim Step Back

The Step back values define the distance from the selected trimming curve to apply to the trimming
option.   Left Side and Right Side generally refer to the direction in which the trimming curve was
originally created.

Left Side:
Step back the trim to the left side.  With a closed trimming curve,
Right Side:  Step back the trim to the right side.  On a closed trimming curve, increasing this
value will make a larger hole (decreasing it will make a smaller hole), or increase the size of the trim
curve.
