San Diego, June 8, 2015 - nPower Software announces the release of a powerful new reverse engineering product - Power Surfacing RE.
Power Surfacing RE is an add-in reverse envineering (RE) product for SolidWorks® 3D design software that significantly improves the process for reverse engineering scanned meshes, other mesh data, and SolidWorks geometry within SolidWorks.
Power Surfacing RE is built on top of the award winning Power Surfacing product. Dealing with scanned meshes can be tricky and time consuming. Power Surfacing RE simplifies the process with tools to reference and convert the scanned mesh into “standard” SolidWorks NURBS geometry. Once the scanned mesh is converted into typical SolidWorks geometry, you can apply all of the powerful SolidWorks commands that you would normally use on native SolidWorks geometry.
Power Surfacing RE also includes powerful mesh cleanup and preparation tools to simply the reverse engineering process. For example, you can patch / fill holes while maintaining the overall surface continuity, you can flip faces on inverted meshes, you can visually compare the distance between the original mesh and the reverse engineered result.
Power Surfacing RE includes the following features (see video tutorials of product features):
- Full Power Surfacing toolset
- Import meshes and display as reference mesh
- Convert SolidWorks geometry into reference mesh
- Drawing tools with automatic face creation
- Constrain points to reference mesh
- Automatically retologize enclosed areas
- Distance display to measure approximation of reference mesh (see video)
- Fill holes while matching curvature of reference mesh (see video)
- Interpolate or "shrink wrap" to match reference mesh (see video)
Power Surfacing is an excellent bridge between Sub-D modeling products like modo® and SolidWorks®. Power Surfacing can quickly and accurately convert virtually any Sub-D model (even Sub-D models that have some triangles) into the precise NURBS representation that is standard for SolidWorks® parts. Power Surfacing creates high quality surfaces, which accurately interpolate the vertices of the original Sub-D mesh.
nPowerSoftware is a certified SolidWorks Gold Partner. |

Power Surfacing RE sells for $2495. nPower products can be purchased from the nPower web store (www.nPowerSoftware.com/store.htm), or through certified nPower Software resellers throughout the world. Customers can purchase maintenance subscriptions for $395 per year in order to receive ongoing product support, free patch releases, and upgrades to major version releases.
Power Surfacing RE is based on IntegrityWare’s SOLIDS++ geometric modeling Kernel, a unique and powerful hybrid modeling system that supports Solids, Surface and Polygonal modeling. nPower modeling tools provide the highest order of surfacing, solids modeling, analysis, and tessellation technologies. In addition, Power Surfacing RE utilizes the new SubD-NURBS library product, which provides accurate conversion between Sub-D geometry and NURBS geometry. |
